Rotary Bangalore Lakeside and Rotary Bengaluru South Samarpane, in collaboration with M/s Cigna Health Solutions India, today inaugurated a newly constructed classroom block at the Government Higher Primary School in Koluru Village, Doddaballapura Taluk, as part of the Happy School Project. Undertaken under Cigna's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in the focus area of Quality Education, the project represents a total grant of ₹38.00 lacs.
The scope of the initiative included the construction of a three-classroom block building, along with the installation of a drinking water purifier kiosk, desks and benches for classrooms, and the distribution of school uniforms and school bags to students. The upgrades are designed to enhance academic infrastructure and create a safe, well-equipped, and conducive learning environment for children in the village.
The inaugural event was well attended by the management and employees of Cigna Health Solutions, officials from the Education Department, Rotarians from Rotary Bangalore Lakeside and Rotary Bengaluru South Samarpane, members of the Koluru Village Panchayat, and school management, teachers, and students.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Somesh Chandra, COO, Cigna International Health Care, reflected on the significance of investing in quality education as a foundation for community development.
Ms. Sevda Esenturk, CHRO, Cigna International Health Care, spoke about the company's continued commitment to social impact through employee and organizational engagement in community-focused CSR programs.
Mr. Sunith Subbiah, Site Head, Bengaluru, Cigna Health Solutions India, and Mr. Ullas D Kotegar, CSR Head, Bengaluru, Cigna Health Solutions India, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the project's execution.
CA Lata Bhagwat, President 2025-26, Rotary Bengaluru South Samarpane, along with Rtn. Kashinath, Project Chair, and Rtn. Harinath Raju, Co-Chair, spoke about Rotary's ongoing dedication to the Happy School Project and its role in transforming educational infrastructure across rural Karnataka.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging all stakeholders, including project sponsors, school management, village leaders, and parents. The event left the community optimistic that the new classroom block would contribute significantly to the academic growth and well-being of the children of Koluru Village.
This marks another significant milestone for Rotary in the area of education under the Happy School Project. The event brought together community members, school staff, students, and local officials in a spirit of hope and collaboration, standing as a successful example of meaningful partnership between Rotary and its CSR partners.
