Bangalore, India - LSI India Group (Subsidiaries of LSI Corporation, US). successfully takes their 'BackPack Program' a CSR initiative, to the fourth year. The BackPack Program, the employee driven CSR initiative of LSI-India is an effort to better the lives of the children of the Government schools situated in the rural areas of Bangalore. The BackPack Program started in a very small way focusing on just two schools covering 143 children four years ago. It grew year after year offering support to 8 26 and now in the fourth year 46 schools covering more than 4400 children.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Madhusudan V Atre, VP and Managing Director, LSI -India said, 'We are happy to mark the fourth year of our CSR initiative 'BackPack Program'. We have been able to extend our help and support to fulfill the basic needs of the children in the schools of these rural areas. Our further aim is to consider providing similar facilities to these schools which will help in reducing the number of dropouts every year, which remains the biggest concern for all the schools. Also commendable is the fact that employees voluntarily make time to actively participate in such a social cause.'

The program started with a basic objective of helping needy children complete their primary education. Over these four years, this program has supported more than 4500 children studying in many primary and middle-primary schools. With current year's program, the number of children directly being helped will exceed to 9,000.

This program is a direct involvement by employees and direct distribution to beneficiaries (with out any intermediary NGOs). The employees contribute a part of their salary to provide the contents in the backpacks that include note books,pen,pencils,sharpner,eraser and Geometric box ,etc which are basic needs of the school going children.
