ROTARY BANGALORE MIDTOWN INSTALLATION NIGHT

Bangalore, India - District Governor 3190 Rtn. UB Bhat, installed the new President and office bearers of Rotary Bangalore Midtown, at a grand function held at Hotel Atria, Bangalore on 5th July’08.

Rtn U.B.Bhat, was the chief Guest, other dignitaries present included Dr Nagendra Swamy, Group Director Manipal, Dr Dr Shankar, Manipal Hospital, Past Rotary International Director Rtn. MK Panduranga Shetty, and Past District Governors.

Rtn G.S. Bhaskar, the newly installed President at Rotary Bangalore Midtown in his acceptance speech announced that the Club plans for several long-term & short term Projects. These include

• Taking forward the work in Gotigere School, adopted by Rotary Midtown in 1996. Midtowners have built 12 classrooms, provided the school infrastructure including Benches, computers, comfort station for the student and even built the school boundary. This year Life time adoption of students education that includes counseling till graduation.

• Gotigere Dispensary has new partners in Manipal Hospital & Microlabs. Manipal hospitals would be conducting 6 medical camps and Microlabs with Manipal group will sponsor the medicines for 2008-09

• Women empowerment program is being launched in partnership with Johnson Diversey. Vocational training would be imparted to women in rural Bangalore building skills in Housekeeping and facilities management, thus making them employable.

This is in addition to the annual projects of distributing 50000 notebooks, Limb a day, Dialysis a day, Blood donation camps, Five heart operations for children, pulse polio camps, distributing blankets in winters, and many more projects are planned for 08-09.

Chief Guest Rtn. U.B. Bhat, expressed his confidence that the Bangalore Midtown will continue to be a model Club in the district and appreciated the contribution by Rotary Bangalore Midtown of USD 106,000 towards Rotary Foundation.

Rotary Bangalore Midtown is a group of eminent Bangaloreans who have come together for a common cause. A team of motivated 102 members. They have adopted schools, run a charitable dispensary offering free medicines to over 18,000 patients, run a life saving brigade that includes 8 ambulances, built rooms for the old age, Vocational services, list is endless. In Bangalore and its adjoining areas have experienced positive support from Rotary Bangalore Midtown.
