
The event saw as many as 7,000 participants, ranging from Army and NCC cadets (around 1,200), corporates, families, and students to fitness aspirants. Children below 15 years of age were also seen running confidently with their adult counterparts. The event took place in three different categories: Elite 10K, Open 10K and Cool 5K, based on convenience level. Cash prizes for the winners were awarded in each category, separate for both men and women.
By sunrise, excited runners assembled at the Nice Toll Gate in Hosakerehalli ready for a long, exhilarating run. Air Vice-Marshal Kshirsagar was present to flag of the Elite 10K and Open 10K run. Major General Narpat Singh Rajpurohit, VSM and D Roopa Moudgil, IPS (IGP-Home Guards, Karnataka Police) flagged off the Cool 5K run.
There were other prominent guests including Mr. O Rupendran, Assistant Commandant – CISF and Mr. Rites Thakur, Deputy Commandant – BSF, Actor Vinayak Joshi, and eminent Indian Kabaddi players like Sukesh Hegde, Rajguru, Prashant Kumar Rai, Jeeva Kumar and Sachin Suvarna.
PRAYAS, the launch of a sports fund, is a revolutionary step forward in supporting the budding sportspersons in our country, initiated by JGI group, was also a part of the limelight. Dr. Chenraj Roychand, Founder- Chairman, JGI Group, and President, Jain University, stated that it was the heart of JGI for the past 25 years to encourage sportspersons through this venture.
