In his address, the Governor emphasized that the inauguration coincides with the birthday of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which is being celebrated nationwide as "Seva Diwas". "This centre symbolizes the spirit of service and reflects the philosophy that 'Service is the highest religion'," he said.
Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot highlighted the contributions of the three partnering institutions: Red Cross Society – a powerful force in times of disaster, disease, and crisis. Rotary International – known worldwide for its service projects in health, education, sanitation, polio eradication, and social upliftment. KLE Society – a pioneer in healthcare, education, and research, providing high-quality services through its hospitals and colleges.
He noted that KLE Hospital has provided the building, Rotary Bangalore Udyog has equipped the centre, and the Indian Red Cross Society will oversee its operations. "This initiative is a sacred commitment to humanity. A well-equipped blood bank is essential to ensure safe and regular blood supply, and this centre will play a vital role in saving countless lives," he remarked.
Calling blood donation the "greatest charity," the Governor urged citizens to make it a mass movement. "Blood donation transcends religion, caste, and boundaries. Every healthy citizen should donate regularly so that no one faces blood shortage. My son and I have donated blood many times.
Concluding, Governor said: "The Red Cross has only one religion – Humanity – and one goal – the welfare of all. With compassion, service, and social responsibility, let us make this blood centre a true life-giving centre and build a compassionate, safe, and inclusive society."
The event was graced by Dr. Prabhakar B. Kore, President, KLE Society; Shri Basrur Rajeev Shetty, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch; Shri Bhaskar Rao, Vice President, Indian Red Cross Society Karnataka State Branch, General Secretary Umakanth, Rotary International District Governor Ms. Elizabeth Cherian, and other distinguished dignitaries.
