The 20th edition of CII’s flagship India Innovation Summit "INNOVERGE 2024" in Bengaluru
In his Inaugural Address, the Chief Guest Mr Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics, Information Technology & Biotechnology, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Government of Karnataka emphasized “At the heart of Karnataka’s vision for a $1 trillion economy lies a commitment to inclusivity and innovation. By establishing Centers of Excellence across Mangalore, Hubballi, and Belagavi, we are not only fostering a culture of collaboration but also creating fertile ground for groundbreaking ideas to flourish. Our dedication to supporting women-led startups is evident, with these ventures raising an impressive $10.8 billion, thanks to programs like Beyond Bangalore and Elevate. As we advance, I urge the industry to join us in enhancing skilling, research, and technology development. Together, we will build a future where every entrepreneur, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to lead, innovate, and succeed."


Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan, Past President of CII, Mentor at CII India Innoverge 2024, Chairman of Axilor Ventures, and Co-Founder of Infosys Ltd, outlined three key requests for the industry and government. First, he urged companies to increase their R&D spending to drive the transformation of India into a product-focused nation. Second, he emphasized the importance of measuring the contribution of products developed in the last three years to current business performance. Third, he recommended that companies increase the percentage of revenue generated from products developed outside the organization, promoting collaboration with leading innovation companies. Additionally, Mr Gopalakrishnan called on industry, academia, and the government to create dedicated spaces within academic Centers of Excellence (CoEs) for the co-location of industry R&D, which would foster innovation and incubation.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Department of Information Technology & Biotechnology (ITBT), Karnataka, have launched the Karnataka CleanTech Startup Accelerator. This new initiative is designed to boost clean technology startups by offering mentorship, funding, and resources essential for rapid growth. The accelerator will focus on key areas such as renewable energy, waste management, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture, reinforcing Karnataka's commitment to innovation and sustainability.


At the Inaugural of “the 20th CII India INNOVERGE 2024 theme this year makes it special :“ India @100, Building for a Resilient, Sustainable & Inclusive India”. Innovation is a multi dimensional phenomenon. It must function on all domains: Science & Technology, Economics & Business, Society & Governance, Art & Culture. “While we seek disruptive & accretive innovations that will make India a technological & economic superpower, we must also ensure that prosperity goes hand in hand with a resilient, sustainable & inclusive society. That will be a unique achievement in the annals of human history. There’s why the theme of INNOVERGE 2024 is visionary “to drive innovation,must harness the strengths of women and men equitably. To ensure an organisational culture & HR practise that provide both an inventive but also a safe work environment for women” Mrs Geetanjali Vikram Kirloskar, Chairperson & Managing Director, Kirloskar Systems Pvt Ltd.

The 3-day event hosted thought leadership addressing an inclusive ecosystem in 10 sectors: Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, Mobility-Automotive & Transportation, Semiconductors, Tourism & Hospitality, Healthcare & Med Tech, Energy Transition/Sustainability, Education & Skilling, Space sector, Agri & Food, Retail and E-Commerce.The summit addressed by CEOs, industry experts and distinguished academia.
