100 riders ride across Bengaluru to spread awareness on Organ Donation
More than 100 riders on their Harley Davidson, drove across the outskirts of Bengaluru city, creating awareness about the value of organ donation. The theme ‘Ride for a Cause’ was in association with Harley Davidson and SPARSH Hospitals
The riders started their journey from Lavelle Road at 6 A.M, via Dabaspet in the morning of 11th November and their destination was SPARSH Hospitals. They completed their journey at 8:30 A.M upon reaching SPARSH Hospital, Yeshwanthpur.
The riders aged between 35 – 50 yrs, drove for 105 km. Upon, reaching their destination they were welcomed by Dr Sharan Patil, Chairman of Sparsh Hospitals. Soon after, the riders pledged to donate their organs and support the cause further. SPARSH Hospitals, along with Jeevasarthakathe have conducted 24 organ transplants till date. The recent case was, a 30 yr old man’s organs were harvested on 4th November.
“Organ donation is a noble cause. Many people have a lot of stereotypes associated with it. However, we wish to create this wave of change. It starts with us. Hence I have pledged my organs”, said a participant who drove for the cause. Dr Sharan Patil, the Chairman of SPARSH Hospitals, welcomed the riders early in the morning with zeal and enthusiasm. “I am really proud and happy, that people are warming up to the idea of organ transplantation”. Amar, from Tusker Harley Davidson Bangalore, said “We do these rides regularly. This time we rode with a cause.”
