AMUL INNERWEAR LAUNCHES ITS EXPANSION PLANS

Bangalore, India - J G Hosiery Pvt. Ltd. is one of the oldest players in the innerwear market and is popular under the name of ‘Amul Innerwear’. The company is currently on a major expansion spree. They are also planning to enter the premium range of kids and ladies’ innerwear market in a big way. The coming year will witness a significant leap in its production capacities as well. Currently, the company produces 3.5 lakh units per day. This will be catapulted to a spectacular 5 lakh units per day in the coming year. Mr. Navin Seksaria, Director, announced the opening of a new branch at the city this Tuesday as a part of their extensive southern expansion plans.

Amul Innerwear is the third largest innerwear brand in the country. It enjoys the number one position in certain areas like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand since more than a decade. It is also one of the leading hosiery brands in western and certain parts of northern India. 2007 witnessed its entry into Bengal and north-eastern markets as well.

The company has a wide spread distribution network across the country. To further enable smooth distribution of its products, the company also has branch offices in all major states of India. Currently, there are 16 branches across the nation.

In the words of Mr. Navin Seksaria, “We entered the innerwear market as we realized the potential for organized players in a largely unorganized industry. This provided a huge opportunity for branded players to provide good quality and stylish products. With the increase in production capacity & further aggressiveness in brand building initiatives, we are aiming to be the leading national innerwear brand by the year 2010.”

Mr. Navin Seksaria, elaborating on the company’s expansion plans, said that, “Currently the company has production facilities at Tirupur and Kolkata and now in Bangalore. We are also planning to set up two more units in Kochi and Hyderabad within the next three months. He further elaborated that the products best suited for this market are the premium range of briefs and trunks that are made for men, women and kids although they have their separate economic range to suit the tastes and demands of other markets as well.
